To aid products to serve the whole audience we publish a number of platform agnostic Guidelines and then a set of platform and technology specific guides.

Guidelines

The core Guidelines all BBC website and app must follow is the Mobile Accessibility Guidelines. These apply to all responsive websites, native or hybrid applications.

In order to help, we provide Guides, resources and support via the champions network.

Guides

We currently provide two guides:

  1. Guide to Accessible HTML.

This guide introduces a number of discreet, testable and proven techniques for developing HTML which is accessible.

  2. Guide to Switch Access

A switch is a form of assistive technology, it allows a single action (button press, jaw bite etc) to control apps and navigate websites. This guide provides an introduction to the topic and a practical guide to support switch users in products and services.
